I had to add this hot sauce to our collection as it is my absolute favorite! I eat this with EVERYTHING! If asked what one item I would bring with me to a desert island . .Santa Cruz Chilero Caribeño Hot Sauce would be it!
This hot sauce can be found on shelves and in restaurants throughout Costa Rica and I’ve looked on many other chili websites and NO ONE lists this hot sauce!
So here is the first review of this bottle of spicy wonderfulness! This beautiful hot sauce has a flavor like no other. The first taste is a fiery, peppery, mustard flavor with a bang. The more you eat this hot sauce the bigger the bang gets. Once you try this sauces fellow chili heads, you wont be able to eat with out it!

If there one thing (other than chilies) that I love, and that’s a good BBQ. Not only do I get a break from the kitchen (my man does the BBQing) but its the lovely fresh meats marinated and cooked well on the barbie! I’m lucky to live in a warm climate, where our winters drop to a minimum of about 20 degrees so there is always an occasion to BBQ. With that though you can get a bit fussy and so the need to try out new marinades, sauces and dips does arise. Ahem . . meet my new BBQ favorite *drum roll* Santa Cruz Chili Barbecue Sauce.
To describe the flavor I would say an adult ketchup, with added onions and carrots to give it a richer flavor with a little sweetness. The spices Santa Cruz Chili & Spice Co. adds takes this bad boy to a whole other level. This BBQ hot sauce is finger lickin’ good! Its rich and tasty and goes perfect with all you BBQ meats! Santa Cruz Chili & Spice Co. claims this is their best seller, and I certainly second that notion!

I first met this bottle of joy whilst living in Vancouver, where it graces many a Vietnamese restaurant table! Before eating your order of Pho I recommend a sizable squirt of this hot sauce to really get your heart pumping!
Tuong OT Sriracha is a Vietnamese based chili sauce with a nice garlic flavor! It’s quite a large bottle and very flavorful so you don’t need much so you find the squeezy bottle lasts for quite a while. Because it has such a distinct flavor, I generally tend to use it on any Chinese or Vietnamese food.

Hot Sauce Reviewed: Ed’s Salsa Picante Italiana

Ok, so I’m not 100% of the origin of this hot sauce, but I’m about 97% its from Costa Rica. What thows me off is the ‘Italiana’ written on the label and the Italian flag. But it does say made in Cosra Rica and their website lists all the places they sell this wonderful sauce . . in Costa Rica. So based on that, meet Ed’s Salsa Picante Italiana . . . made in Costa Rica!
I met this hot sauce the other night in Cassava Bar and Grill in Escazu, San Jose. EVERY time I go to a restaurant I will always ask them to bring out their best hot sauce. It usually follows in the same breath I order my drink because I want to make sure the hot sauce os sat on my table well before my food arrives . .so I am ready and prepared!
Alot of the time, the server will bring out a bottle of TABASCO, but now and again they bring out a new and wonderful hot sauce for me to try! And this is how I encountered Ed’s Salsa Picante Italiana hot sauce! A fellow chili lover who was dining with me, immedeatley loved this one as it has NO vinegar in it. He’s not too partial to vinegary tasting hot sauces. I understand why its got the Italian part to the label as it tastes exactly like a spicy bolognase pasta sauce. Its peppery and fiery and needless to say, I took the bottle home with me . . .(i do nromally ask the restauant when I do this!)
So folks, if you haven’t tried it, definitely do! Great as a marinade (i’ll be trying it later on some buffalo wings we’re going to BBQ) spice booster or as a dip . .for those of you hot sauce maniacs who can handle the heat!

Melinda’s Hot Sauces specializes in habanero pepper hot sauces. The Red Savina variety used to make Melinda’s Red Savina Pepper Sauce is about twice as hot as a regular habanero pepper. Apparently it used to be the hottest chili until the ghost pepper over took it. There’s a lovely sweetness to this hot sauce, probably due to the fresh carrots, onions and limes used. This is followed by a good dry heat.
Melinda’s Red Savina Pepper Sauce was laboratory tested at 577,000 Scoville Heat Units. This sauce is one of the hottest and should really be used a drop at a time, especially if you value your taste buds! This is a truly fantastic hot sauce blend, and in a delightful bottle to top it off!
