Tuong OT Chili Garlic Sauce Review

After discovering Sambal Oelek Chili Paste, I saw this jar of joy sitting on the shelf one day! I think, recalling correctly, I jumped with glee at the fact, one of my favorite hot sauces had a garlic other-half! I couldn’t think of a more beautiful marriage since Brad and Angelina Jolie joined forces!

Tuong OT Chili Garlic Sauce has all the salty hot goodness but with some good old garlic thrown into the mix! Hans (my spicy other half) loves this even better for cooking as he says he doesn’t have to chop up garlic, but just adds this sauce instead . .lazy if you ask me, as it means less for me to devour! ‘Sharing is caring’ I suppose (just wish it didn’t apply to hot sauces!)

Sambal Oelek Chili Paste Review

I first met this chili paste when I was living in Spain. One of my favor restaurants called Mytillus, served a dish called Meat on A Stone, where you cooked your tender pieces of prime steak on a hot stone to your perfection. With this dish, they served Sambal Oelek, and probably to their annoyance, I’d finished the jar . . every time. Spain’s a little hard to find worldly products so I had to hunt far and wide for this sauce, but through perseverance, I found a little Asian store which stocked it. Needless to say I became their favourite customer! The only problem was, that they only sold this jar in tiny sizes, so when dinner time came and Hans (my spice loving other half) wanted to use Sambal Oelek as an ingredient in his cooking, the kitchen wars would start! Fortunately, for our relationship, we moved to Vancouver where they sold this chili paste by the bucket load, and so peace resumed in our little household once more!

This sauce is moorishly yummy! A fine combination of salty hot goodness means the pot doesn’t last for long! What is it good on . .every bleeding thing! As a dip, condiment, marinade and for cooking! I even use it as a spread on my toast!

Banquete Tabasco Hot Sauce Review

I tried this one the other week at Jaco Taco, in a beach town on Costa Rica’s coast and loved it!

It was so yummy I did end up using half the bottle. I added it to the Mexican salsa the waiter brought out with some nachos to add a bigger punch. Unlike the original Tabasco, the hot sauce just pours out, which resulted in a much bigger punch than originally intended. The Mexican salsa that I was adding it to was a shared bowl but luckily enough for me I was sat with a bunch of spice-a-holics, and through burning mouths, we did devour it all!

So if you’re going to buy this one (if you’re lucky enough to have it in your country . . hehe) then buy a few . . because it wont last long!
